I’ve been doing a lot of driving round nowhere recently, sketchbook and camera at the ready. Can’t quite remember the last time I started a new project by going out on location. This is of course another look at the delights of the dismal; here, a series of convivial hostelries now abandoned and isolated in the midst of light industrial squalor or encircled by Tarmac. At least the ubiquitous double yellow lines make it unlikely that any regulars are drinking and driving.
